A PHd student named Billy who went from "fresh out of graduate school" to a high-income position at a national research company. He started out frustrated like most students who invested years in higher education. Here's his story.
Billy and his young wife lived in a small 2 bedroom apartment on campus. With previous work experience it was thought Billy could earn some side money as a teaching assistant while finishing off school. This was a great idea until he discovered how much they make.
College bills mounting, a new baby on the way, Billy and his wife were rightfully scared. Graduation day was full of joy and fear. He had already been searching for six months with no leads, Billy picked up the Dreaming Job System and personal coaching.
By this point Billy had no money, his wife was considering moving back home with her mom while Billy interviewed, except there were no interviews. Worse, Billy student visa was expiring shortly.
The challenge was to identify employers who wanted his specific skill set from thousands of possible employers to which he could provide general skills. He addressed this with the first step of the Dreaming Job System which is identifying possible employers using buying relationships.
His second step was to write a letter of introduction that positioned him as a valuable addition to a specific type of organization. His research helped him identify what was important for the target companies so each letter was tailored to a specific individual.
This gave him an immediate advantage over what he had done in the past. Instead of sending out resumes, these letters were getting him call backs. At first these calls lead no where, but it was great practice for the big one.
It was one of Billy's biggest fears, he though he didn't have any applicable experience. But, Billy had an advantage, as many Phd students do, his research projects and papers made great conversation materials about the experience he could bring to a company.
In his interviews he tied his research experience to specific applications he know the company he was talking with had an interest. Almost in every case the hiring manager wanted to talk with him more, in a few cases he picked up small consultative like calls with these firms. This built his confidence while getting him familiar with real world problems.
After four months, a few minor offers trickled in, then there is was that big one. A position, almost a perfect match, came right to his doorstep through his efforts and the Dreaming Job System. Billy interviewed then flew out to New York on the on-site.
Because he had put in the effort to gather, research, and understand his target industry his was picked up for a position that was never posted. Billy wowed them in the interview with his understanding of the industry and was made an immediate offer at $15,000 more than he expected.
What you can take away from this story is that even a recent Phd graduate with little business experience can quickly find a position using this system. This is done by following the steps provided, using letter templates, and tracking results.
Even better, the new company willingly sponsored Billy's visa and his wife could move back as they now settle down in Long Island.
